SimWin Sports, a firm specializing in fantasy sports within the digital realm, has joined forces with Sports Illustrated (SI).
SimWin and SI are now collaborative partners, with SI aiding SimWin in gaining greater visibility by showcasing their logo on SI’s digital platform and other media outlets.
David J. Ortiz, the CEO of SimWin Sports, expressed, “We are thrilled to collaborate with SI, a prominent name in the sports and entertainment landscape, as they venture into the metaverse sports arena.”
“This alliance will empower SimWin to enhance the presentation of their games and reach a wider audience, particularly SI’s dedicated fanbase.”
SimWin’s virtual world features digital athletes competing on teams owned by renowned sports and entertainment figures. Notable individuals involved include Magic Johnson and Tracy McGrady from the NBA, and Jerry Rice and Marshall Faulk from the NFL.
In 2019, Authentic Brands Group acquired the SI brand for a substantial sum of $110 million.
The realm of sports and culture is the heart of Sports Illustrated, and their foray into the virtual world is a logical progression for the most respected name in athletics. This is according to Dan Dienst, the head of Strategic Opportunities at Authentic.
Authentic is diligently constructing its sports, media, and web3 enterprises, and they are thrilled to collaborate with SimWin and claim ownership of a squad in the SimWin Virtual Sports League.
In June of 2021, SI declared that their gaming platform, Sports Illustrated Sportsbook, would be fueled by 888, a gaming enterprise situated in London.
This arrangement granted Authentic exclusive rights to utilize the SI brand and trademarks for online sports wagering and gambling, as well as promotional and editorial integration on specific SI-branded digital resources.
In April of 2022, 888 recruited Howard Mittman, a media veteran, to guide the SI Sportsbook operation. Mittman, the former leader of Bleacher Report, assumed the role of president of 888’s U.S. operations.
The 888-powered sportsbook is presently accessible in three states: Colorado, Michigan, and Virginia.
