Jonathan Kaplowitz has stepped down from his position as the leader of Penn Interactive after a period of over three years.
Kaplowitz declared on LinkedIn that he is departing the company, which administers Penn National Gaming’s digital offerings, including Barstool Sportsbook and Casino and theScore, to concentrate on family life before the arrival of his second offspring.
Kaplowitz joined Penn Interactive (PI) in February 2019 after a period of seven years at Comcast, where he ascended to the position of Managing Director and General Manager – New Businesses. He previously held the role of Director of Corporate Management at the World Poker Tour.
Notable achievements during Kaplowitz’s time as CEO include the signing of PI’s exclusive sports betting and online casino partnership with Barstool Sports in 2019 and its launch in ten US states. Over the past three years, Penn National Gaming has established Penn Gaming Studios and acquired Score Media and Gaming, which owns theScore.
“Building and leading PI has been the most fulfilling experience of my professional journey, and collaborating with an exceptional team and partners has made it even more rewarding,” Kaplowitz stated.
“From the outset, our shared objective has been to become the premier, most inventive integrated sports media and betting enterprise in the United States.”
For the past three years, the division’s income has expanded twelve times over, showcasing a top-tier application in the United States and being recognized as one of the best work environments in Philadelphia and the sector. I am proud of the organization’s profound culture, which is marked by cooperation, openness, and cultivating leaders from within.
“Gratitude to everyone at Penn State Gaming for placing your trust in me for this position, it has been an honor to work alongside all of you daily. To my associates at Barstool Sports and theScore, it’s been remarkable to witness our partnership prosper over the past several years, creating something truly distinctive,” he stated.
Penn Interactive has not yet provided a statement regarding Kaplowitz’s exit or plans for his replacement.
