The Spanish gaming firm, Codere, has formally debuted its Codere.com.co platform for Colombian users. This launch comes shortly after the Colombian gaming authority, Colijuegos, revealed earlier this week that it had granted Codere its fifth online gaming permit.
The authorization, which set Codere back nearly $7 million USD, will remain effective for five years. It empowers Codere to provide online sports wagering and casino amusements, available on both mobile platforms and through a range of physical avenues.
Codere will conduct business in Colombia under its “Codere Apuestas” trademark, augmenting its current physical footprint within the nation. The Madrid-based corporation has been managing gaming establishments, bingo parlors, and casinos in Colombia for over three decades.
Colombia marked a milestone last year by becoming the inaugural Latin American nation to legitimize internet gambling. Subsequently, Colijuegos has bestowed three licenses upon domestic operators Wplay.co, Corredor Empresarial, and Colbet. Nevertheless, it wasn’t until October that GAMING1 emerged as the first international entity to secure an online casino and sports betting permit.
Preceding Codere’s introduction, Colijuegos chairman Juan B. Perez Hidalgo hinted that the regulatory body anticipates granting a minimum of two additional licenses before the years end.
