Lennart Käll, the top dog at Sweden’s gaming giant Svenska Spel, is resigning after almost a decade. Leading since 2011, he feels he’s accomplished his goals. With a modernized gaming permit framework approaching, he believes it’s an ideal moment to hand over the reins.
When he initially assumed command, his objective was straightforward: reshape Svenska Spel into a conscientious gaming corporation, strengthen its standing as a premier entertainment source, and provide engaging games and services. And guess what? He succeeded.
Regarding notable shifts, the Swedish administration is overhauling things with a brand-new licensed gaming market. They intend to secure legislative approval by June and have everything operational by the start of 2019.
Käll views this as a new beginning for Svenska Spel. He’s confident they’re prepared to face the new competitive environment and are well-situated to prosper. He’ll remain until summer to guarantee a seamless handover, and the chairman, Erik Strand, is already searching for a suitable replacement.
Strand commended the departing Käll, remarking: “We are deeply appreciative of Lennart’s outstanding contributions throughout his tenure as CEO over the past seven years. As the Swedish population’s gaming enterprise, Svenska Spel is well-positioned for the restructuring that will be implemented by the year’s end.”
Established in 1997 through the amalgamation of two government-owned entities, Penninglotteriet and Tipstjänst, Svenska Spel maintains its headquarters in Visby, Sweden. The organization disseminates its offerings through approximately 6,700 retailers, 2,000 dining establishments, taverns, and bingo facilities, in addition to its online presence.
Lennart Käll further noted: “I take pride in the accomplishments we, the executive team, and all other personnel at Svenska Spel have attained during my time at the helm. We have fulfilled the proprietor’s mandate and demonstrated the feasibility of harmonizing accountability and expansion as a gaming corporation. Svenska Spel stands fully equipped for the evolving gaming landscape.”
