888Africa is increasing its footprint across Africa through the purchase of BetLion, a well-known wagering platform with a significant presence in Kenya and Zambia. This calculated action will bring over 3 million enrolled customers into 888Africa’s user base. Founded in 2019, BetLion is recognized for customizing its offerings for the African market, providing data-efficient mobile gaming and sports wagering. They currently operate in Kenya, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
888Africa, a collaborative venture between 888 Holdings and an autonomous leadership group, was initiated in March 2022 with the objective of broadening the 888bet brand throughout the African continent. This acquisition will strengthen 888Africa’s standing in East Africa, adding a secondary central office in Nairobi, Kenya, to their existing location in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Moreover, obtaining BetLion’s permit in the DRC unlocks promising new territories for 888Africa.
Robert Chirchir, Chief Executive of BetLion, conveyed his excitement regarding the acquisition, remarking that “888Africa is an enterprise with immense aspirations within the African landscape.” This action marks a substantial stride in 888Africa’s goal of becoming a dominant force in the African online gaming sector.
Elation surrounded joining BetLion’s dynamic trajectory, leveraging our premium software, infrastructure, and current regional authorizations to propel their growth.
Christopher Coyne, leading 888Africa, conveyed, “This acquisition represents a significant stride toward our vision of crafting a genuinely distinctive betting and gaming encounter for African users. BetLion’s expertise and technological prowess align seamlessly with our expansion plan and aspirations, bolstering our offerings as we aim to secure a leading market position across the continent.”
He further noted, “We eagerly anticipate collaborating even more closely with the team and persisting in captivating customers with our unified product.”
